UMBOSS architecture allows for the consolidation of events and alarms from all domains, such as the mobile network, fixed core and access network, corporate communication network, data center, etc. Data is received from any number of NMSs and element managers provided by any vendor.
All alarms are accessed through a single alarm dashboard with configurable filters and views, along with a unified alarm management toolset that provides functions such as acknowledgment, changing severity and priority, journaling, accessing the knowledge database, assignment, manual action activation, and many others.
The alarm processing engine provides filtering, aggregation, enrichment, cross-domain correlations, root-cause analysis (RCA), flapping detection, notifications, suppression, maintenance window, and many other functions.
The alarm enrichment mechanism automatically adds resource inventory information, customer data, location, contacts, knowledge database entries, or any other technical or administrative data available in external IT, BSS, or OSS systems through integration points.
Since all alarms are consolidated in one place, cross-domain correlation, root-cause analysis, and other functions allow engineers to be informed about the overall situation. The data can be displayed in the context of devices, topologies, locations, or logical schemes.
UMBOSS is an assurance product with the inherent capability to initiate external assurance processes. Any faulty condition can be detected, and appropriate action can be initiated with the help of UMBOSS's Automation module. The Performance Management module will trigger an alarm for any threshold violation or detected anomaly.
